Donald Barthelme amerikai novella- és regényíró, aki játékos, posztmodern novella-stílusáról ismert. Barthelme a Houston Post újság riportereként is dolgozott, a Location magazin ügyvezető szerkesztője, a houstoni Kortárs Művészeti Múzeum igazgatója (1961–1962), a Fiction társalapítója, valamint professzor különböző egyetemeken.
